It’s about me. It’s about my power and what I put into it, the work leading up to the race, how I execute the race, how I start, my warmup, how I calm myself down before and during the race. It’s not about strategy or thinking about what other people are doing during the race. It’s solely me, and it makes me feel the strongest I’ve ever felt every time I get on my time trial bike and put myself into it.

Meet Samantha

She doesn’t remember any dream before her first at nine years old: to be a professional mountain bike, traveling zipping down dirt-filled and rock-littered trails all over the world. Samantha didn’t think the dream was possible, though, after a limb-lengthening surgery at 11 years old resulted in permanent damage. Turning to rowing after — including a couple years under a full athletic scholarship to D1 University of Central Florida — and a few bumps along the way, Samantha and her fierceness found their way back to the bike and, eventually, para-cycling. Now she’s living that nine-year-old dream, albeit a little differently than initially envisioned and a heck of a lot better than she ever thought possible.

Bribed to train for mountain bike races with peanut chicken — her favorite meal at nine years old — or the appeal of earning quarters from her dad with every cyclist she would pass on the trails, so long as they didn’t pass her back.

When not riding, Samantha loves making and creating. When she was she also dreamt of owning an ice cream shop. Now it would be cakes and cookies, with a side of ice cream.

Is an athlete mentor with multiple organizations — Ready, Set, Gold!; Classroom Champions; One Revolution; Promise Scholars — to help future generations chase their dreams to the best of their abilities.

Opened Bosco Bike Fits with her husband to others achieve maximum potential in comfort, aerodynamics and power so they could chase their cycling goals and dreams as well.

A serious training accident kept Bosco from competing at the Paralympics in 2021. Since coming back last year, the veteran cyclist from Claremont, California, has been nearly unstoppable. Bosco, now 36, followed up her most successful season ever with another dominant year in 2023 that included a second consecutive world cup overall title, defending her road world championships in both the road race and time trial, and three additional medals at the track cycling worlds. After closing out the year with three more medals — two of them gold — at the Parapan American Games in Santiago, Chile, Bosco enters 2024 as a favorite to add to the two Paralympic medals she won back in 2016.

Also racking up her third medal of the Games was Samantha Bosco (Claremont, CA) who will be adding a bronze medal to her two golds from earlier this week. Bosco was in good standing out of the start before a crash derailed her progress – her first crash after serious training accident in 2021 that kept her from competing in the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.

“It was my first crash after I got really hurt two summers ago,” said Bosco, “so it’s nice to know that I can be okay from one. Nobody ever wants to crash, so it was a hard day right from the start.”

“I just trusted myself and trusted the process,” said Bosco. “We made some changes in between qualification and finals that I knew that I could do, and I really believed that I could do it.”

Bosco finished in a time of 3:45.752, ending with a comfortable second lead over Canada’s Keely Toles and a new Parapan American Games record.
